Game rules pairplay

Learn the essentials in a few minutes. PairPlay is a shared game for adult couples: curiosity, communication and decisions made together are at its heart.

Quick start

The game in four steps

  1. Choose your pace

The game is for two. You choose when to make the next move, talk and take a break.

  2. Discover and play

Missions help you earn points, while Actions let you use them for new proposals for your partner.

  3. Decide with care

The card recipient may approve or decline it. The response always belongs to them and should reflect both partners’ comfort.

  4. Reach your finale

Points lead to a Reward. At the end of the game, the winner chooses one option from their Reward Card.

The heart of the game

Three card types, one shared story

Mission Cards

A Mission is your personal challenge in the current round. When you feel it is complete, you send the card to your partner for a decision. An approved Mission awards the points shown on the card.

Action Cards

An Action is a proposed task for your partner. Playing it costs points, and your partner decides whether to approve or decline it. Respect every answer and talk about what works for both of you.

Reward Cards

Each of you has a Reward Card with two final options. After the game, the winner’s Reward Card presents the available choices and the winner selects one.

A fresh idea when you need it

Card exchange

Not every drawn card has to stay with you to the end. New exchanges refresh the game in a clear and fair way.

Action and Mission: your personal choice

Once per game, each player can exchange one unplayed Action Card and one unplayed Mission Card. The replacement is drawn from the same card type and never repeats cards currently held by either partner.

Reward: only with both approvals

A shared Reward exchange requires two conscious choices. One person sends a request and the other confirms it; only then does a new Reward Card appear. This shared exchange is available once per game.

Every exchange is optional and irreversible: drawing a new card replaces the previous one. The game panel always shows how many exchanges are still available.

Points and decisions

You earn points for approved Missions and use them to play Actions. Scores update with decisions in the game, so both of you can follow the current state of play.

Ending the game

Play continues until the final round ends or until you jointly decide to finish after the round conditions are met. The result summarises your points, and the winner’s Reward Card lets them choose the final option.

The rule that matters most

PairPlay is an invitation to talk, never pressure. Set boundaries before you begin, ask, listen to the answer and stop any activity whenever either of you feels uncomfortable.
